GAMA's most successful project has been the Teaching Guitar Workshops which it has supported for several years in partnership with NAMM and the MENC. Each year, workshops are held at various locations around the country. School music educators from all over the country attend these workshops and are taught how to start or expand a guitar program in their home school classroom, not to one student at a time, but to 30 students at a time! The entire industry is becoming aware of this exciting program. Retailers such as Guitar Center, Brook Mays, AIMM and Sam Ash Music have realized the potential of this program and have helped sponsor these workshops. We are putting out the word for all music dealers to Adopt-A-Music Teacher by sponsoring a local teacher to attend these seminars. Everyone is very enthusiastic and everyone wins with this program, from the industry, to the teachers, to the students who now have a renewed interest in making music. In an Independent Study, our teachers were surveyed and we found that this program is having a real positive impact. The teachers feel confident with the skills they acquire at the workshops and they are reaching children and creating new music makers. If you are a school music teacher and you would like to learn how to have guitar taught in your school click TEACHERS START A GUITAR PROGRAM or visit the MENC guitar page. If you're a student and you want guitar taught in your school tell your teachers to visit our site and find out how. GAMA is also dedicated to making sure its members are always a step ahead of the competition. By creating these programs teachers and the industry know about GAMA members first. GAMA compiles Sales Data to help its members identify industry trends and know where to concentrate their efforts. Members attend meetings and receive periodic newsletters in which vital information is put forth to help give our membership an edge. |
