Taylor Guitars introduced its newly re-voiced Dreadnought guitars at Summer NAMM 2002 and the robust-sounding instruments already are eliciting excited praise from a wide variety of players. While maintaining the "balanced" sound for which Taylor guitars are known, the new Dreadnoughts deliver impressive volume and powerful, bass-dominant tones.

The new Dreadnoughts are the result of company president Bob Taylor turning his attention to exploring nuances of tone, after his decades-long quest to create the ultimate guitar neck and playability came to fruition with his patented NT ("New Technology") neck design.

"I wanted to give our Dreadnoughts their own distinctive voice," Taylor says. "The Taylor 'flagship' tone is well established and perfectly embodied in our Grand Auditorium model. Tweaking the tone and boosting the volume of our Dreadnought has allowed us to achieve more of the 'cannon' effect of which this type of guitar is capable. Yet, the new Dreadnoughts still have a well-balanced 'Taylor'sound."
