During that first month of classes, your students’ fingertips might get tender. Here’s an activity that you can do while you rest their fingers.
Pose these questions and have the students answer as one student records the answers on the board:
1. Where can someone hear guitar music? In my class when the list approaches 30 answers, I move on to the next question.
2. How could someone learn to play the guitar? This question allows students to see there are many ways to learn to play and to supplement what you teach them. We are in the information age and the pedagogy of the instrument is quite varied. Use this as an opportunity to explain all the benefits of learning in the guitar classroom.
Have students record the answers in their notebook and ive them a chance to be successful early in your class! Create a small quiz. Here is mine……..
Name five places that one might hear guitar music.
Name five ways that someone could learn to play the guitar.
